Diaper Matters/ Review

So you know I have used several major diapers on the market…oh Yes believe it or not. Especially with 14 month old twins and crossing multiple oceans. I have changed easily somewhere in the region of 6000 to 7000 diapers in this period- I do the bulk of the changes so I am a professional diaper changer😂. Please note this is my unbiased review- nothing here was paid for. I will classify the diapers by region of origin or purchase and include a star rating.

America

Pampers Swaddlers– we started off with this brand from the hospital. Yes in America they give you free diapers while the baby is in the hospital and if you ask nicely they will give you a few packs to take home…they gave me a few packs with wipes too. These diapers held up very well for my girls and still work exceptionally well for them even as they are older. They are absorbent, clean and leave no pee smell on their skin. And long lasting – on average we dropped down from 10 daily as newborns to about 5 diapers a day per child as the girls got older. The primary downside of this diaper is that it is more expensive than most main stream diapers. What you pay for a box of 96 swaddlers is what you pay for about 120 baby dry diapers. A box of 164 is currently retailing for N28k thats 16 days of diapers

I give this diaper 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Pampers Baby Dry

The prompting to purchase this diaper was that my newborns were running through about 20 diapers combined daily in the first few weeks. Given the price of swaddlers we thought this would be a better buy. This diaper was decent, but after using swaddlers it was highly disappointing. We ended up using about 25 to 30 diapers daily. It was less absorbent and the cotton pulled a bit on the inside. If the diaper wasn’t changed after 2 hours it got really full. It wasn’t exactly value for money in my opinion.

UK

Lidl Toujours

This diaper is fantastic in my opinion. It holds up overnight for my girls and rarely leaks. I bought it locally in Nigeria and it fits and sits well on their bottom. No rash, no pee smell on their skin when they wake up in the morning. The only downside I have with Toujours is that the elastic seems to get stringy overnight. The pricing is average and is lower than the premium brands.

I rate this 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Asda Little Angels

Little Angels is really little angels. It works well for my girls during the day time and we use about 5 to 6 diapers daily per child. It’s absorbent, the girls don’t smell like pee after I change them. The pricing for this diaper is very good when I buy it from mall for Africa (they sell the pack for N2862 while the same 84 pack retails for N6400 on Jumia). Go figure.

Nigeria

Pampers Premium Care

This diaper- I started using it when I ran out of swaddlers (read above). I figured pampers is a premium brand, their skin was fine and all in this diaper. But once the baby pees once, this diaper sags like they have been they have been wearing it for two days. While they didn’t smell like pee or break out in rash- this diaper is a scam. The only thing premium about it is the price. Put it this way I discovered little angels and toujours a few weeks back and I am finishing out my last pack of premium sh*ts. I believe it’s made in Egypt, Turkey, Saudi etc.

I rate this diaper 🌟🌟

Pampers Baby Dry Made In Nigeria

This diaper right here is one of the worst diapers money can buy. This diaper right here leaks…forget that nonsense about using it overnight. Your child will wake up smelling like they have been swimming around in their own piss. I bought a few packs of this diaper and was gifted a few. I used them, but with caution as I couldn’t throw away money. The celebs who advertise this mess probably don’t use it. It was like using cottonwool wrapped in nylon- thats how strongly i feel about it. Oh and its not that cheap in the scheme of things…pampers seems to fancy themselves a premium brand in terms of pricing.

I rate this 🌟

Huggies Made in Nigeria

The pricing of this diaper was such a joy. The actual fabrication was decent. I actually purchased this diaper by accident. I just snatched up the pack because I was out of diapers and I had been to two stores close by and no one had premium. The only downside with this diaper is that it gave one of my girls a rash. Its hard to remember which diaper to use for which child, so it was simply more prudent to buy something both girls can wear. This diaper was a pleasant surprise minus the rash.

I rate this diaper 🌟🌟🌟

Huggies Little Mover

This diaper is a luxurious diaper in terms of feel and all. But i was disappointed. I got the mega pack as a gift. I think it’s imported from the UK or EU, it always shifted on my girls bottoms and the leg area didnt seal well for them. Maybe they are too skinny. I was cleaning poop outside of the diapers for about the three or so week we used this diaper. And when you load your child into a car seat, you don’t expect their lower half to be covered in poop by the time you drive for 15 minutes. This diaper wasn’t cheap either.

I rate it 🌟🌟

Molfix

Molfix is made in Nigeria and appears to be one of the most accessible diapers locally. It is sold in every store you go to. Every store from Ikoyi to the local markets. Molfix surprised me in a very good way. I was frankly expecting a shabby diaper after my experience with Nigerian pampers, but it was the opposite. It doesn’t leak, holds up fairly well and is currently in my top 4 of diapers. The pricing is also better than many of the others. But it is more expensive than Little Angels based on how I buy diapers.

I rate this diaper 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Note: If anybody wants to make my kids diaper ambassadors please don’t vex if I have dissed your brand. I am just stating my observations from a mother’s standpoint. Molfix please come and use my babies for advert we have till December before we potty train- that one is another kettle of fish.

Isn’t it ironic though my best and worst experience were with the same brand?

  3. Great review Ms Pynk! I use molfix for my 9 month old baby. Been using them since she was born. I think it’s good value for money.

I used the American/UK huggies years ago for my older child…I was quite impressed with it then.

Very impressive and precise! I’ve used almost all diapers mentioned except little angels( will try em out shortly).

Pampers Nigeria is the worst diaper I’ve ever come across! Tiwa should no longer allow them use her cute jamjam for that fraud of a diaper.

  7. I used molfix when my child was born, it was good then I tried out huggies, good too but felt too snug. My baby grew, of course, I switched back to molfix 3 but alas! Our relationship wasn’t to be anymore, I kept cleaning poop outside the Diaper, soiled clothes, even little rash! so I went back to huggies and all is well.
Something I noticed though, pee tends to go unnoticed for a longer time with molfix than huggies but the huggies held the poop intact, no leaks.
