No Crystal Ball

I don’t have a crystal ball, but there was a post HERE I did three months or thereabouts ago about how to follow the happenings in your industry and your job. Lo and behold shell has announced the first of its cuts to eliminate 6500 jobs in Nigeria and around the globe- HERE.

Please lets be vigilant in planning for our futures and understanding the tides that can affect our careers and ambitions.

Have a pleasant weekend.

  1. The word that came out from my mouth was ‘Jesus!’ God help us. Wisdom time is here.

    • Wisdom time has been since na Enjay.. the thing is this – Oil & gas is far too dominant in our economy and no one wants to work in the other unsexy areas… which may actually be more promising in terms of longevity.

  2. I remembered your post when I saw this news earlier today.

Things are getting worse daily. God help us

Lol. I also remember I commented saying a Shell worker said most of them were already polishing their CVs and taking certification courses so I guess they saw it coming.

    • Thelma polishing to go where though? Another Oil & Gas Company? With the exception of maybe Sahara, please what other alternative energy private champions exists in Nigeria? Because as far as I am concerned – leaving say Shell to go to chevron is a temporary fix. Is it these same folks that will take a pay cut and venture into banking or other industries?
