So I Did It….

Singing- I am not my hair…..if you guessed i was cutting my hair, clap for yourself.

So I finally did it. I have been transitioning from texturised hair to natural hair for the past 1 year so to speak. I went and did my big chop with kemi Lewis Naturals and I like it. I feel liberated to say the least. My last Length check was October 2014 and I was around shoulder length, but i Had been cutting my hair an inch every month or so since then.

By the time i went for my big chop, she only had to cut off about 4 inches. I am proud to say I do have hair that grows. I grew almost 8 inches of hair in a year, without doing anything particularly special. I am sure by December i can get to armpit length if i drink my water and take my women’s daily vitamins.

My husband seems slightly amused by it..my mom hasn’t  seen it yet- she might faint. But I am happy with the hair as is. I just have to get used to fluffing it. On a positive note, i can wash it every other day now. And My hair is a neat mix of super curly and crazy volume..it feels like a forest…KL says its 3b hair type whatever that means.

  1. U look great! Love the short hair. Wish I could add the one u chopped off to mine. My hair will then be close to my waist. Love long hair a lot for me but admire short hair on others.

Am out on this one. I love the length and look you had. Major because i have no hair…. What vitamin supplements do you use? Would like to try it out. Maybe, just maybe it would be the cure i have been searching for.

    • Lifetitudes the issue is i never seemed to go past armpit length ever. And i thought my hair didn’t grow. I mean given my racial make up it made no sense.
I dont do anything special to my hair, but i do like conditioner, so i wash my hair a lot.
A hair growth vitamin is biotin..you have to drink a lot of water. I personally couldn’t take it cause it made me itch when i forgot to drink water. I just take 1 a day women’s active, calcium with vit D and folic acid.
I am trying to see if i can drink 2.5 litres daily of water also

Armpit hair length qualifies as Rapunzel’s hair as far as i am concerned. No-no to the itching biko. Will get on the calcium with vitamin D and folic acid. Thanks love

  9. This is the perfect length. you can play with it at this stage. Once it grows longer, you’ll just end up throwing it in a ponytail.

    loveee your curl pattern.

Naturally I love the long tresses but the short bouncy curls look so good on you! All you people blessed with long hair are often the ones so quick to chop it off, while those of us with scraggy tufts of hair on our scalps would give anything to grow an inch. The irony of life.
